SENSYN ROBOTICS, Inc. (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo / President: Takuya Kitamura; hereinafter “SENSYN ROBOTICS”), a company which is aiming to fully automate operations with drones focused on the areas of facility inspections, disaster countermeasures and security, has added a function (tower scan function) that makes it possible to easily automatically navigate tower-like structures (e.g., steel towers and chimneys) to the SENSYN FLIGHT CORE drone automatic navigation platform.
We have added a function that makes it possible to automatically create inspection flight routes for tower-like structures with this update. It is now possible to easily set up inspection flight routes for communication towers, chimneys and other structures just by entering the longitude/latitude, height and radius of the structures. The drone will then fly to thoroughly
scan the entire structure while repeatedly moving up and down for the generated route.
In addition, we have implemented a pre-flight function to check the automatic navigation route beforehand. The user can now verify the safeness by rehearsing the flight route to be actually taken.
With this new function, the user can dramatically improve the efficiency of operations to inspect structures with drones.
Conventionally, a huge amount of work was required to set up each waypoint manually when utilizing drones in communication tower inspections. In particular, it was essential to manually plot dozens of waypoints while taking into consideration the camera angle, drone aircraft direction and flight altitude when using a drone to inspect structures of 10m or greater. The work involved in creating these routes was one of the factors that hindered the spread of on-site drone inspections. It is possible to instantly generate inspection flight routes without excessive manual labor with this tower scan function that we have now implemented. Therefore, it is possible to start drone inspection more easily.
We have been updating SENSYN FLIGHT CORE with the necessary functions under the aim of fully automating the operations of our customers. For example, we have added a wall surface scan function and 3D map support in the past. SENSYN ROBOTICS will continue to update SENSYN FLIGHT CORE to achieve the full automation of operations utilizing drones in the future.
