Empirical Systems Aerospace, Inc. (ESAero), a leading Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) System design, development and manufacturing services provider announced today receipt of AS9100:D and ISO 9001:2015 quality management standard certifications. ESAero has certified the manufacturing centre in San Luis Obispo, CA, as well as the ground and flight test facility located in Oceano, CA.
Successful completion of the audit and certification to the international aerospace quality standard signifies ESAero’s ongoing commitment to meeting and exceeding increasingly stringent industry requirements for aerospace related products in the defense and commercial markets.
The addition of AS9100 and ISO 9001 certification in California strengthens ESAero’s competitive position and standardizes quality processes across the organization. AS9100 is the international quality management system standard for the Aircraft, Space and Defense (AS&D) industry. The standard provides manufacturing suppliers with a comprehensive quality system for rendering safe and reliable products. AS9100 is managed by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) and based upon ISO 9001.
“Acquiring these certifications at two of ESAero’s sites will enable us to achieve responsible and significant growth in the expanding UAS and UAM markets, while continuing to provide exceptional value to our current customer base. The benefits are immediate for our existing DoD and Commercial UAS manufacturing lines, and our subsystem work for air-vehicle electric and hybrid-electric propulsion, qualification, standards development and certification, such as the X-57 “Maxwell”, will also benefit. NASA encouraged securing these certifications through our work on X-57.” – Andrew R. Gibson, President & CEO, Co-Founder
Operations at ESAero received AS9100 certification following extensive quality management system audits by Intertek Testing Services NA, Inc. located in Kentwood, MI, a premier, accredited management systems registrar.
