No Satisfaction – the FAA Drone Registration Task Force

Every wonder why the Drone industry just can’t get no satisfaction? Straight off of the FAA Drone Registration Task Force roster of shame

Nancy Egan –

The saga of 3DRobotics is sad indeed. But the lack of understanding and leadership were astounding. She was happy with the notion of the FAA paying/doing the research for drone regulation. Failed up to a position at Google

Rich Hanson –

AMA has been after a mandated membership since sometime in 2009. With an annual budget in the tens of millions, a large membership, and friends of friends in high places ran through a comedy of errors. This is probably the hardest fail to see as they were tipped off to the content of the reauthorization probably as far back a year ago. I’d ask the lobby firm for my money back and the FAA letter is just poor leadership.

Not drone persons. More drone “experts” need to start kibitzing in aviation matters, as it would only be fair.

Chuck Hogeman and Randy Kenagy –

Not a drone person. More drone “experts” need to start kibitzing in aviation matters, as it would only be fair for them to suffer setbacks from the lack of SME experience.

Sean Cassidy –

Amazon was supposedly going to be delivering packages by now!

Ben Gielow –

After years of failing at AUVSI, he went on to do great things at Amazon! This was the guy who compiled the bill language for the 2012 FAA reauthorization.

Justin Towles –

Not a drone person. More drone “experts” need to start kibitzing in aviation matters, as it would only be fair for them to suffer setbacks from the lack of SME experience.

Brian Wynne –

The leadership legend that has been expertly lost 20% (1500) membership since taking over the association. Some say it would be almost impossible to shed numbers like that in an industry purported to be worth some 82 billion USD (your own associations forecast), but the board is just going to ride it out as they believe they (as well as the industry) can still come in either on TOP or in for the Big Wynne!

Parker Brugge –

Best Buy was okay with whatever as long as it wasn’t at the Point of Sale (POS). Another unmanned aviation SME opinion afforded you by the FAA.

Douglas Johnson –

Hey CEA and FAA, are these Chinese Toy’s or are they aircraft?

Brendan Schulman –

Repeatedly in situations where it appears that he is over his head, but that doesn’t stop him for veraciously advocating for whoever is writing the checks.

This visionary just got tired of the prestige and money that came from being associated with Google. No, just kidding, it was purported that it came down from on high that the burrito delivery made Google look foolish and we’ll see you later.

Tony Bates –

GoPro couldn’t even get a selfie-drone off of the pad even though they had plenty of ex-3DRobogtics people help them figure everything out.

Matt Zuccaro –

Matt is a decent guy. Not a drone person. More drone “experts” need to start kibitzing in aviation matters, as it would only be fair for them to suffer setbacks from the lack of SME experience.

Brandon Declet –

Alleged golfing buddies with folks in the Obama Administration and DaaS meister.

Randall Burdett –

Baptiste Tripard –

Parrot is a French Company that lost a hundred million dollars and I am going to say not in touch with the U.S.

Tyler Collins –

Does he still work at PrecisionHawk after the big purge? They are still pivoting for-profit and acquiring companies that are losing money.

Gregory McNeal –

As the story goes, the FAA invited Greg to participate on behalf of Small UAV coalition unbeknownst to the coalition. (Awkward) However, Airmap needs mandated customers to round out part of the business plan. Some local municipal laws in the App as part of a yearly contract would just be gravy Dianne.

Thomas Head –

Walmart was okay with whatever as long as it wasn’t at the Point of Sale (POS). Another unmanned aviation SME opinion afforded you by the FAA.

A few points I would like to add, AMA tried to enter in a dissenting opinion into the record that none of these people supported. The big win for the hobbyist was the 250 grams based on conjecture and irrelevant shrapnel from explosions science and the fee being $5. Wow! All of that indignation aside this catastrophe was sold to the industry as the FAA’s fix for years of inaction and lackluster enforcement. Now we have the reauthorization to fix the same problems the FAA wouldn’t enforce before.

Conclusion –

The FAA picks unqualified people that they can easily give the snow job. Burying the dysfunction and moving targets is the only way you can keep up the platitudes “it’s all about safety” and “we need data” etc. ad nauseam alive. Well, that and the promise of some mandated association members or customers. Besides that, it is all smoke and mirrors that you will actually be paying for here soon.
