Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee to Hold Hearing on Drone Threats

The CUAS Coalitionis proud to announce our attendance of the Senate hearing of S. 2836, the Preventing Emerging Threats Act of 2018: Countering Malicious Drones,” on Wednesday, June 6, 2018. The CUAS Coalition for over a year now has been working with legislators to create laws that will help civilians use counter drone equipment to protect their assets from rogue drone pilots who present risks and dangers to public safety. Now in part to our work legislators are willing to move to create opportunities through legislation for civil operators to legally protect their assets with counter drone equipment and tactics.

Subject: ADVISORY: Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee to Hold Hearing on Drone Threats

WASHINGTON — The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will hold a hearing titled, “S. 2836, the Preventing Emerging Threats Act of 2018: Countering Malicious Drones,” on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 to examine steps the federal government can take to stop threats posed by unmanned aircraft. The Preventing Emerging Threats Act of 2018 introduced by Sens. Johnson (R-Wis.), McCaskill (D-Mo.), Hoeven (R-N.D.), Heitkamp (D-N.D.), Cotton (R-Ark.), and co-sponsored by Sens. Cassidy (R-La.), Jones (D-Ala.), and Rubio (R-Fla.) provides the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) with the authorities they need to protect buildings and assets when there is an unacceptable security risk to public safety posed by an unmanned aircraft.
